On the 18th of December 1990 in Durant, Oklahoma a young man was awakened by a loud scream that sounded like a panther. He thought he was dreaming, but when he heard three more screams he knew it was real. He looked at his clock. It was 4:00 AM. When he heard another scream he ran down the hall and woke his mother. They heard their two German Shepherds barking and chasing something. The mother and son looked out the window and saw that dogs had something cornered by the barn and the back fence.

They could not see what it was, but it kept screaming. They called the police. The police arrived and shined a spotlight on the barn. All was quiet by then and the dogs had calmed down. The police did not find anything and left. The next day they learned that there were several reports of disturbances to the west of their home. Including a report of dogs barking at a tall man in the woods near a resort in Lake Texoma.

The mother and son never had another experience like this one. Whatever it was that screamed loudly outside their home did not return. Durant is a part of the Texoma region and according to Bigfoot researcher and author, Jerry Hestand, Texoma has had multiple Bigfoot encounters.
