Since 1976 the Federal Bureau of Investigation has had a twenty two page report on Bigfoot. On the Fifth of June 2019, the FBI released a report about Bigfoot to the public.

That report is available online at the FBI Records Vault.

That report contains the results of the analysis done on multiple hairs believed to be from a Bigfoot.

The FBI received a request on the 24th of November 1976 from Peter Byrne, the Director of the Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition in The Dalles, Oregon.

The request included a sample of fifteen hairs and some tissue that Byrne wanted the FBI Laboratory to examine.

Jay Cochran, Jr., the Assistant Director of the FBI Scientific and Technical Services Division replied to that request.

However, in the interest of research and scientific inquiry the FBI does make exceptions to that general policy. So the request by Byrne was granted.

It was good news for Peter Byrne, and other Bigfoot Hunters, that the FBI agreed to examine the sample of hairs.

The bad news was the results, which were provided in February 1977.

The hairs were determined to be from a member of the deer family.

That twenty-two page report includes the results of the analysis along with the correspondence between the FBI, Peter Byrne, and others.
