Oklahoma Bigfoot in Cleveland County

She lives out of state now, but her family lived in Norman, Oklahoma from 1976 to 2003. Bigfoot researcher Bob Stamps interviewed her and her family members in 1976 after they had encountered a Bigfoot in Cleveland County. That was the family’s first encounter when they noticed an odor, heard vocalizations, and found large footprints on the property.

Other encounters occurred over the years. The last encounter occurred in January of 2003 when a man was outside cutting wood. He was about fifteen yards from the house near the edge of the woods. Only a chain-linked fence separated him from the wilderness behind the property.

It was an early evening, and he was about to finish his work when he looked up and saw a bigfoot. The creature appeared to be seven feet tall or taller and was several feet away, standing in the woods. The creature had reddish brown hair with gray patches. The man dropped the wood he was holding and ran into the house.

His wife found him sitting and shaking. He mumbled incoherently at first but finally managed to say, "Bigfoot. I just saw Bigfoot." His wife was aware of her family's history of multiple encounters over the years.

Most of the encounters went unreported. Mainly because they were considered trivial like footprints in the mud or snow, loud growls from the woods, the occasional stench, or heavy-sounding footsteps outside the home at night. However, visual sightings were deemed significant and another Bigfoot researcher was contacted.

Daryl Colyer investigated. He interviewed the witness, and made casts of large footprints found between the woods and fence. She, her family, and the Bigfoot Researchers were convinced there was a Bigfoot in Cleveland County, Oklahoma. The Bigfoot Mapping Project is a global, crowd-sourced utility for the Bigfoot Research Community.
